Can I attend your conference if I don’t write romance?

Absolutely! Our workshops cover craft, research, business, and writer’s life. Even if you don’t write romance, you’ll find plenty of workshops to keep you busy! For a full line-up of our workshops, please see this visit the workshops page on our website. 

Which Chicago airport is closest to the Marriott Northwest?

We recommend you fly into O’Hare Airport rather than Midway. O’Hare is definitely the closest airport to the hotel.

How do I get to the Marriott Northwest from the airport?

The hotel does not offer a shuttle service from the airport, so we suggest you either rent a car or call a cab or limo. American Taxi has a flat rate to the suburbs, approximately $34 to Hoffman Estates. Their number is 847-253-4411. If you prefer a more pampered ride, book a limo from O’Hare Midway (1-800-468-0211).
Note: If you just hail a cab curbside at the first curb, this will be a Chicago city cab. They will run the meter and charge you double. You don’t want to do that.

Can I register the day of the conference?
You must pre-register for the conference. Registration is open until April 1 or until we reach capacity, whichever comes first.

I can only attend one day of the conference. Do you have one-day passes? 
Unfortunately, we do not offer one-day passes. Even if you can attend only one day, the fee would remain the same.

I volunteered! When will I find out my volunteer assignment?

Thank you for volunteering. We can’t run the conference without our volunteers! We will email your assignment and responsibilities in mid-April.

I signed up to pitch. Am I guaranteed a pitch appointment? How many pitch appointments do I get?  
Our goal is to give ONE pitch appointment to everyone who wants one, but with over 150 registrants requesting to pitch to our ten agents and editors, we cannot guarantee everyone an appointment. Pitches are assigned in the order we receive registration and payment.

When will the workshop schedule be posted?

We expect to finalize the schedule in mid-April, at which time we will post it on our website.

Do I have to register for the conference to attend the book signing?

Our book signing event is free and open to the public. You will have to purchase the books you have signed.

Can I bring promotional items to be distributed in the Goody Room?
Yes. We will have a goody table available near the book fair room. All are welcome to distribute promotional items.

What should I wear to the Saturday Gala dinner?
The Gala Dinner on Saturday night is semi-formal. Jeans are too casual, a ballgown is too formal. A festive dress, a cute suit, or a cocktail dress would be perfect.
