SILENT AUCTION

Update:   The 2012 Silent Auction to benefit Literature for All of Us raised $8,940.  Thank you all for bidding generously!  Also, thank you to the Sol R. Kaufman Family Foundation for providing the matching funds that helped us reach that number.

“Literature is the art of discovering something extraordinary about ordinary people, and saying with ordinary words something extraordinary.”
~ Boris Pasternak

How does one measure the benefit of literature?  As a writer, do we pattern our heroes and heroines after our favorite characters from literature?  As a reader, how enriched are we for having access to Elizabeth Bennett, Scout or Heathcliff?

Chicago-North RWA Spring Fling 2012 is proud to host a Silent Auction to benefit Literature for All of Us.

The not-for-profit 501c3 organization Literature for All of Us is a nationally recognized, award-winning literacy organization.  Its mission is to bring the rewards of reading and writing to children and adults in underserved neighborhoods in the Chicagoland area.  By promoting reading, writing and discussions, it opens a world of accomplishments, self-esteem and hope for a better future.

We will be auctioning off themed baskets, books from many great authors, items from prominent publishing houses and agents, as well as donations from contributors such as yourself.

Chicago North RWA thanks the Sol R. Kaufman Family Foundation for providing a generous grant that will match the silent auction proceeds up to a maximum of $5,000.
