If you didn’t work in publishing, what would you be doing?
I would be still probably pursuing my PhD in Sociocultural Anthropology and doing fieldwork (super boring, I know).
What is your favorite non-client book?
In the past year: The Kiss Quotient
Which of your current clients’ books do you think would make a great movie or TV show?
I have one coming out next year called NEVER HAVE I EVER that I can’t wait to see if it will get to the screen!
Outside of reading, what do you do for fun?
Hang out with my dogs, watch too much TV and play Pokemon Go with my boyfriend.
What was the last TV show you binged?
Lucifer, SO good!
What is your favorite part of the acquisition process?
Negotiations. I love asking for more money, amongst other things. 😉
What advice would you like to give writers who will be pitching to you? Any pet peeves?
Don’t put all your eggs in one basket, and just relax! I’m human, and truly not very scary at all (even if I did have someone tell me once I look nicer in my headshot…).
Tell us about your publishing house/agency.
SDLA just entered our 40th year in business, which is really exciting. We are an agency full of diverse and progressive women that are led by a fierce trailblazing lady!
What is the one thing you wish would land in your inbox that hasn’t?
The next wonderfully epic Historical Book Club Fiction (think The Bronze Horseman or The Nightingale).
What is your favorite romance trope?
Fast 5 – name your favorite:
Beverage: Diet Pepsi
Snack: Peanut M&Ms
Movie/TV show: Parks & Rec
Song: Come Along by Cosmo Sheldrake (currently)
Vacation: Anywhere with a tropical sandy beach and alcohol readily available.
