bdsm book reviews imageAfter an enthusiastic response from our 2012 conference, we are excited to offer Hot Night Critiques again in 2014. We’re even more excited to announce this year’s event is sponsored by BDSM Book Reviews! Hot Night is a popular Chicago-North RWA program that allows participants to bring up to 3 pages of a love scene—from sweet to scorching—for a small group critique. To participate, conference attendees (both pubbed and unpubbed are welcome) should plan to bring 25 copies of their scene*. Just want to listen? No problem, come join in the fun. This event will take place Friday evening after dinner. It’s BYOB from the hotel bar, but delectable treats (chocolate covered strawberries, anyone?) will be served.

Space is limited, and we encourage those interested in attending to please sign-up in advance by contacting Melonie Johnson at Be sure to indicate where your pages land on our heat meter: If you would like to attend as a Voyeur, that is fine! e-mail Melonie and let her know what heat level you’d like to listen in on!

SWEET: Mild sensuality, mild heat, no graphic euphemisms.

SPICY: Moderate sensuality, moderate heat, more graphic language.

STEAMY: High level of sensuality, graphic description of anatomy and of sexual acts.

SCORCHING: Intense erotic scenes, may include BDSM and m/f/m or f/m/f menage.

The first 150 participants will receive goody bags courtesy of our sponsor, make sure to pre-register to secure your spot, even if it’s only as a voyeur! Attendees will also receive a raffle ticket, to be entered in a drawing for one of three $15 Barnes&Noble gift cards, courtesy of erotic author Tonya Kinzer.

Indie authors attending Hot Night will also love our other raffle prize: a gift certificate to SelfPubBookCovers (value of up to $200, depending on winner’s selections).

BDSM Book Reviews will also be randomly awarding a variety of autographed books in each Hot Night Room throughout the evening.

Our sponsor has also arranged a special chance for Hot Night participants to get their work in front of editors from the following publishers: Eternal Press, Harmony Road, Loose ID and Totally Bound. More information on this opportunity will be available at the event.

Some other sensational surprises are in the works as well. (Yes, that was a tease.) You won’t want to miss it!

* To allow time for as many participants to read their scenes as possible, please make sure your pages follow standard industry guidelines: 1″ margins, double-spaced, 12 pt font in Times New Roman or Courier. Thank You! We recommend you print your pages ahead of time, but there is a Business Center on-site at the Marriott for your convenience as well.

* We know midnight is late, but at the last Spring Fling the event was so popular nobody wanted it to end! This year we’re allowing as much time as possible for the event. However, if you’re the pumpkin-turning type feel free to stay as long as you like, and sneak out when you want to get your beauty sleep.
